An ion source is a device that produces positive or negative ions for such things as particle accelerators. In other words, it is quite a special passenger.
From Laboratori Nazionali del Sud located in the city of Catania, Italy, we transported the ion source 2500 kilometres to its new home, the European Spallation Source ERIC research facility in Lund, Sweden. This assignment required carefully detailed planning and a major focus on safety at all levels.
The delivery of the ion source is one step in the construction of the world’s most powerful neutron source. Read more about the assignment: Transport of Ion Source for Catania to Lund
