“Sven-Harry’s Art Museum was a good starting point for the collaboration between Sweden and Finland”
says Aki Tuomainen of MTAB, responsible for art transport in Finland.
The Ellen Thesleff exhibition at Sven-Harry’s Art Museum in Stockholm was the first Nordic art collaboration for MTAB Finland. The exhibition, “Lysande konstnär och tidig modernist (in English: ‘Brilliant Painter and Early Modernist’)”, was at the museum for two months. Organising and coordinating the transport from Sweden was Mikael Ekman, while Aki Tuomainen was responsible in Finland. They contacted the art owners, who were everything from museums to private collectors, in order to coordinate the collection, packing and courier transport. All 50 pieces were returne to Finland after the exhibition by direct transport to the museums, and delivery from MTAB Finland to the private collectors. The complete operation ran extremely smoothly.
“The next Nordic collaboration is planned in May, this time with Norway. And several other Nordic transport operations are being planned,” says Aki Tuomainen.
