The most modern art-transport vehicle in the world
Transporting and handling valuable pieces of art place ever-higher demands on both expertise and technical equipment. World-leading museums are no longer satisfied with anything less than fully equipped vehicles in which the temperature and climate can be adjusted as required.
MTAB’s latest art-transport vehicle is fully loaded with new technical solutions and has been designed for two couriers. It can cope with outsized pieces, with its internal height of fully three metres.
The vehicle has been designed such that it can maintain a constant interior climate, independent of the weather. Humidity and temperature can be set according to the requirements of the customer in four climate zones, using five temperature sensors.
The driver and couriers can monitor conditions in the various zones on a display in the driver’s cabin, and it is possible to obtain data for these levels at the MTAB head office in Bromma by remote sensing. The vehicle has two heating units and two dehumidifiers, with nine roof-mounted fans to distribute temperature and air in the loading space.
The walls of the vehicle are reinforced with sheet metal and MTAB has had double locking systems installed, for which the courier has an individual key. Furthermore, the vehicle has a GPS tracking system, with geofencing. The latter involves the route being pre-loaded into the system, and in the event of deviations occurring, sending an alarm to the security company and, where relevant, the police. A conventional alarm has also been fitted.
