Effective working relationship with Toshiba
MTAB has developed a unique business model, in which craftsmanship and systematic thinking go hand in hand. An excellent illustration of this is the work performed for Toshiba Tec Nordic AB, the multifunction printer manufacturer.
It is almost ten years since Toshiba TEC Nordic AB and MTAB initiated their partnership, with Toshiba outsourcing the delivery and shipment planning of its copiers. Jimmy Johansson, Team Manager Service at Toshiba TEC Nordic, explains the reason for establishing the partnership:
Basically, we were having delivery problems, especially during peak delivery periods when large numbers of machines had to be delivered to our customers at the same time. MTAB was able to step in and take the pressure off our organisation.”
Over the years, the partnership has grown in size and strength as Toshiba’s business operations and sales have increased. It began with the delivery of machines to customers in the Stockholm region. Today, it is a nation-wide operation that chiefly involves the return of old machines and configuration of new ones. MTAB is now responsible for the management of all the logistics for Toshiba TEC Nordic’s end customers in Sweden.
“MTAB has access to our administrative systems and customer database and forms a part of our business operations. It has its own Toshiba e-mail addresses and answers the phone with “Toshiba”, when customers call. They are a right-hand man to us,”Jimmy Johansson explains.
Eva Westman, who works in Customer Service at MTAB and has been involved from the start, tells us:
“We’re in charge of shipment planning for Toshiba, which means we work online in Toshiba’s systems. We enter orders for new machines, which we then deliver to the customers. We also use the system to book Toshiba’s network installation engineers and customer training courses, and to track a machine’s history, if parts need replacing, etc.”
“Our work involves planning the configuration of the machines which we do at MTAB´s warehouse before shipment, ” she adds,. “We also send commissioning documents, which the customer has to return. We then forward the documents to Toshiba’’s technicians so they have them for the final installation stage.”
“Our companies have developed an effective relationship which works smoothly in every respect,” Jimmy Johansson declares. He sees MTAB’s flexible approach as one of the major advantages compared to other logistics companies”
“We can implement large-scale roll-outs of machines across the whole of Sweden at very short notice, even when all the machines are to be transported in an unpacked state and installed on site. They are relatively large, bulky machines that require careful handling during transport and installation.
“What’s more, MTAB’s attitude is that “Nothing is impossible!”. And that applies across their entire organisation, from the administration level to the drivers who transport and install our machines on our customers’ premises.”
