Cash machines for banks
New banknote handling machines make sure that cash stays at banks and is reused. Gunnebo Bank has supplied about a hundred machines over the last few years, with the help of MTAB.
The new banknote handling machines installed aim to help minimise the risk of robbery and to make cash handling more efficient. As the risk of robbery is highest when cash is being transported, banks want as much of their cash as possible to circulate within the branches.
– The banks used to have two counters – one for deposits and one for withdrawals – which meant they used an unnecessarily large amount of cash, explains Håkan Nordin at Gunnebo Bank, Key Account Manager and head customer manager for SEB and Handelsbanken. We had general agreements with banks where they prepared their branches and, above all, their counters prior to installation, says Håkan.
Installing the new banknote handling machines at several hundred banks has been a major job, according to Håkan. Gunnebo Bank held overall responsibility for this task and dealt with administration and logistics with the help of companies such as MTAB.
We commissioned MTAB to pick up the machines – essentially big, heavy safes – from the manufacturer, transport them to banks and install them on site. Before Gunnebo Bank’s engineers commissioned the machines, MTAB had also bolted the safes to the floor.
MTAB also took back the old banknote systems and safes from the banks and has disposed of them in an eco-friendly fashion.
– We have to book experts for transportation and installation work as the machines are so heavy and complex to handle, continues Håkan. We are really pleased with our cooperation with MTAB. It has all gone really well, and we have maintained open, constructive lines of communication throughout the entire project.
