Alice in Wonderland – Contemporary art goes down the rabbit hole

KERAVAN TAIDEMUSEO – Liisa Ihmemaassa 5/9–30/12 2018

The exhibition Alice in Wonderland at Kerava Art Museum takes the visitor on a journey from safe and familiar reality onwards, out into the boundaries of imagination. Contemporary art from artists including Emma Ainala, Kim Simonsson, Tommi Toijan and Mia Hamari are used to mesh fundamental questions about humanity with the dream world of childhood.

View the world through the eyes of Alice

Despite the name of the exhibition, the art is not based on Lewis Carroll’s evocative novel. Instead, the artists have chosen to see the world through Alice’s eyes: with a child’s curiosity and astonishment.

Visitors come across boys with large heads, girls who develop into women, mystically transformed forest creatures, living moss and princesses determining their own destiny.
